What the Ancestors Hold

Stand in the open.

Let your arms rise without asking why.

The old ones taught this; strength does not shout.

It waits. When the wind moves you, do not resist.

It is carrying what you cannot hold alone.

Compassion is learned by bearing weight and not turning away.

Protection is learned by standing even when unseen.

Breathe.

The ground remembers your feet. The sky remembers your name.

You are not alone. You have never been.

“We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.”
