Wonder Woman’s female director, Patty Jenkins, raked in over $700 million worldwide on this film. It continued to be last summer’s biggest movie draw. Men and women and kids of all ages praised it.
Here’s my issue. Director of Justice League, Zack Snyder, “sexified” the Amazonian warriors in Justice League, with skimpy coverings. Why? Obviously, Wonder Woman didn’t need to because fans went for the story, without a “notice” of outfits worn. Therefore, I will not support this film.
This last week, Gal Gadot signed on for next year’s sequel to her original Wonder Woman, after she demanded the removal of Brett Ratner, another of the “industry sexual predators” that has been called out. This is how the rise of strong women are changing who controls what they say and do. Successful women breaking barriers. Bravo! No going back to the way it was!
If you do go see the movie, let me know your impressions of the Amazonian Women Warriors in this film. As consumers, we have choices. My choice is to support those who support improving the human condition. Super Heroes or not, the industry needs a wake-up call as to the appropriate use of the power they wield. This is my hope for 2018 forward. We, the people, demand better!
