- I want to give credit to the millions of men who DO support women’s voices. We need to change the language used when speaking of women’s “No MORE stealing her glory!” It’s why I blog. It still happens when women are not believed or are discounted ☹
- The UN, where Ted Turner donated a Billion dollars to promote women’s programs believing women were what the world needs from it’s leaders.

- A Powerful man that promotes Women is Ted Turner who passed away last week. Ted Turner, founder of CNN and TV news pioneer leaving a legacy as a media mogul and philanthropic figure.
- He was bigger than life, gave a Billion dollars to the UN to promote women’s programs, believing woman are the true leaders the world needs.
- He owned and promoted Atlanta’s sports teams, and other world competitions. He skippered his racing boat to a world cup and became know as Captain Courageous. He truly was a renaissance man
Early in his wealth he began investing in America. With approximately two million acres of personal and ranch land, Ted Turner is one of the largest individual landholders in North America. Turner lands are innovatively managed to unite economic viability with ecological sustainability. Turner ranches operate as working businesses, relying on bison, hunting and fishing, and ecotourism as principal enterprises. In addition, Turner ranches support many progressive environmental projects including water resource and timber management, and the reintroduction of native species to the land. You can stay on many of the ranches.

- Jane Fonda on May 6, 2026, the day after her ex husband Ted Turner passed away at 87, posted a tribute so raw and intimate that it read less like a celebrity statement and more like a love letter written across decades, describing him as a gloriously handsome swashbuckling pirate who swept into her life and left her forever changed. What makes her words land so hard is the admission of something she had rarely felt before: she said no man had ever let her know he needed her, and here was this titan who built CNN and won the America’s Cup, this billionaire who owned the largest private bison herd on the planet, showing her vulnerability instead of just power. She wrote that being needed and cared for at the same time was transformative, that Ted Turner helped her believe in herself when confidence had never come easily to a woman raised to be the one giving reassurance rather than receiving it. Their marriage lasted a decade, from 1991 to 2001, but the friendship never ended, and even years after the divorce she would talk about walking his Montana ranches, learning to fly fish, watching him restore endangered wolves and bison to land he stewarded rather than just owned. She recalled how ferociously competitive he was, joking that next to Katharine Hepburn, Ted was the most competitive soul she had ever met, whether they were counting ski runs or comparing acres of land held, but underneath that drive was a man who studied the Peloponnesian War and quoted Alexander the Great while teaching her about business and strategy and the quiet dignity of picking up trash on a walk. She ends the tribute not with sadness but with an image of heaven that feels entirely his own: Ted standing at the pearly gates while black footed ferrets, Mexican gray wolves, and forty five thousand bison gather around applauding the man who brought them back from extinction.

I just heard an interview with his Ranch Manager who had a last ride with Ted onto the Montana property. Ted asked him if they had done enough, with tears in his eyes. When his manager answered with all they/he had done it surpassed what he had planned. And Ted’s eyes wept uncontrollably. It was his final look out upon his dream before heading to the barn one last time. It’s been left in good hands. He done good! Jane’s tribute says it best, him standing at the Pearly Gates with an applause of the critters he saved from extinction.- He was truly a Renaissance Man, one of a kind and bigger than life. I admired his environmental work, inspired by Teddy. I saw him and Jane in person when he hosted the Pre-Pan Am Games in Seattle and I took my niece to see the opening and Cirque du Solei. We sat a row behind them. This was 35 years ago and it was “a moment”. A very elegant duo.
This is the main reason I followed him, his environmental causes that have made a difference. But also his philanthropy to women’s rise to prominence.
