As a mom of a “buddha boy”, I appreciate his heart more than anything. I gave him space to figure out his life’s path. It took him a long while to get there but he did it his way and found success. I wrote a blog on Dave Grohl (Storyteller, Nirvana, Foo Fighters,) and his mother, who gave him the freedom to soar. Parents/family have the greatest influence on our kids and if lucky, they have a few good mentors to help guide them. However, if we try too hard to influence their decisions, it then causes conflicts; a push-pull. Expectations cause suffering, as the Buddha would tell. Learn who they are and what their interests are and support them where they are at. And expose them to music, art, travel, whenever possible. I know this helped my own son. Our influences show up in how they treat others, in their kindnesses. Every time someone tells me of his good deeds I’m given a gift.

“Your children are not your children.
They are sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.”
~Khalil Gibran
Some kids naturally fall into a purpose. They are inspirational. And this is what this post is about. The Children’s Hour. I write about them often also.
Meet Ellyanne. She’s just a teen, but she’s already planted over 1 million trees!

Ellyanne remembers exactly when she decided she wanted to be an environmentalist. She was four years old and in kindergarten. So far, aged 13 years, she says she has helped to plant 1.3 million trees.
Together with a team of 17 members of the Children Committee from around the world, Ellyanne is leading the young ones in putting together the first ever child-led Global Children Climate Summit, which ran from August 31 to September 2, 2023 ahead of the Africa Climate Summit.
Watch her speak and be amazed at her eloquence.
