Ancient Souls  and  Sacred Dances

Taking this time now for some quiet reflections. Too much of just about everything. Including my growing blog catalog of stories. Too much and I need time to recharge. So, stick with me and I promise to bring you more amazing finds of  hope and strong women. The winter solstice is upon us. And the winter skies are full of fury. Nature has a way of slowing us down. Take time to enjoy the moments less the stresses Together.

Locally unprecedented winds, rains, floods and landslides have disrupted hundreds of thousands of people.  Mountain passes are closed, main interstate has had some landslides and temporary closures, and many local roads are flooded and levies breached. Planning and early warnings have proven essential. Emergency services were called up and the responders went to work. Farm animals were moved to the county fairgrounds. Lots of shelters have opened. Only a few rescues were needed. The winds caused additional problems with many trees down.

I live near the base of The WA National Guard who did evacuations when a levy failed in one neighborhood. They’ve been busy patrolling from above. Another local town along a different river had new flood gates built after the last floods a few years ago to keep the downtown area from flooding. They held. Big equipment removing the large debris trees at choke points, bridges and such. Infrastructure will take time with so many local valley freeways impacted.

And now the mountains are going to get cold, meaning snow and winds for the next week, and more rain in the lowlands. Snow in the mountains, except the roads to get there are impassable. Snowpack is what we pray for every year. We’ve got three months to build it back up.

“The Keeper of Quiet Truths”

In the old stories, wisdom did not shout—

it waited in the hush between one heartbeat and the next.

Some say the night is a teacher of patience,

gathering every wandering thought into a single, steady flame.

And when a seeker listens long enough, a guide arrives—

not with answers, but with the stillness needed to hear one’s own.

For the deepest knowing is not carved into stone or written across the sky;

it rises slowly, like a moon remembering its way home.

Thus the people learned: follow the silence that sharpens the spirit,

and trust the gentle guardian who sees the truth long before dawn.
